Grill Grates

Grill GratesGrill grates are pieces of metal that sit a few inches above the heat source and allow heat to pass through. These grates allow meat and other food to be placed above the coals or flames so they can cook without being covered in ash but still have that flame licked taste.

Grill grates are typically made of stainless steel to withstand high heats while still being easy to clean. On some grills they can be adjusted in height although it can be difficult to perform while the coals or flames are hot. Keeping the grate clean helps to prevent the transfer of flavors from one food to another which some grillers actually prefer to leave.

Grill grates can be replaced although it may be difficult to find an exact size unless it is purchased from the manufacturer. One of the only standard grill sizes is the round Weber grills that are imitated by many manufacturers.

Grill parts can be replaced to keep a BBQ running smoothly for years.
