Barbeque Islands
Barbeque
islands are much like the item of the same name for your kitchen. They
are a space designed for both work and congregating. Rather than being
placed in the middle of your kitchen, like a kitchen island, barbeque
islands are placed on your patio. They are usually sheltered, if only
by a trellis or awning.
The reasons for sheltering barbeque islands are very good. Much like
a kitchen island, a barbeque island will increase the value of your
property once installed. This only works when the island is in good
working condition, so if you let the seasons turn your island into a
scary ghost town, it will not only be an unappealing place to hang out,
it can become a drain on your property values.
Most barbeque islands feature a slot cut out for the grill to sit in.
Many times a contractor building an island will tailor the slot to a
grill you already own. If you do not own a grill, you should check your
local hardware store for common dimensions and have your island built
to fit a grill that looks like it would meet your needs. If you are
buying the grill after the island, it is essential to measure and ensure
that you will get your grill to play nicely with the island.
